Looks good, but scratches and missing some basic features,
 Â
The reason I bought this calculator is that it looks nice. It has a large keypad and a clear display. Sounds perfect for a general purpose calculator, right?
For the purpose of this review, I am evaluating it from a basic office use scenario.
PROS:
This looks like an Apple product. Even the packaging, the wrapped cellophane, the included case and the laser etched back look like an Apple product. Form is king.
CONS:
The biggest problem, in my opinion, is that it lacks an exponent function. I assumed that it included this function but completely missing. Instead it includes Sell, Buy, and Margin buttons to perform basic arithmetic tasks. It even has two ways to erase your data entry. It devotes 5 buttons to nearly useless tasks and cannot perform exponent calculations. Wow.
Second, the included case is crap. It is nearly useless as it is so tight fitting that it is hard to get the calculator in and out for the first few weeks. It is a cheap material that is too stiff to be used for this purpose.
Of course, since the case fits too tightly, it quickly scratches the display. It is a shame to spend $30 on a BASIC calculator that focuses on form more than function – and then have the calculator screen quickly scratch.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
Know what you’re getting: a basic calculator that cannot replace a scientific or financial calculator. This device still fits 80% of my needs, but I cannot put away my scientific calculator because I need it to solve some common calculations.
It isn’t a bad calculator, but the included functions severely limit this device’s utility.

|Beautiful calculator,
I am not sure why reviews are all of sudden so picky about calculators. I just needed a basic calculator for my home desk for bills and other calculations. The interface is really nice, buttons are lovely with the curved indentation. It is sleek looking and well designed, and ease of buttons allows you to punch numbers in quickly. I like that it is solar powered and made of recycled materials — green friendly. I only dock one star because I don’t really need the “profit/margin” buttons so I feel like it’s an unusual choice and a waste of button space, and because I would have preferred a tilted screen for viewing. But otherwise, if you’re looking for a well designed, easy to use calculator, this is the best priced one I’ve found (the Muji white one is $25+ and most other well designed ones are in the same price range.

|Beautiful but flawed,
This could so easily have been a 5-star rating, but the flaws make it only worthy of 2 stars.
The good: looks/feels gorgeous. Very good value at around $27 for something built so nicely.
The bad: very poor performance in “normal” living-room lighting. I really don’t appreciate having to go into the kitchen just to use a calculator. Almost every other solar-powered calculator has a back-up battery, but this one does not (presumably a “green” feature) very bad idea
The ugly: the supplied carrying case is HORRIBLE! It’s very much a desktop calculator anyway so I would never use the case, but how “green” is it to produce horrible plastic crappy carrying cases that no-one will even use? Just more junk for the landfill.
