Makes for a smooth transition,
I’ve been a devoted PC user all my life, but when I had to switch to a Mac for work, I thought I might be in trouble. From the experiences that I have had in using Macs, they are backwards and totally unintuitive. Luckily, I bought this useful little reference guide to teach me all of the basics. From there it was simple to get started and begin using a Mac from day one of my new job.
This book did an excellent job in familiarizing me with basics, like working with folders and files and using the application dock. I was able to organize all of the files that I needed and access them quickly. Every application that I needed was right there on the dock and those that I didn’t, I knew how to tuck away in a folder.
As I continued to use the Mac, I noticed that constantly Command clicking and doing other easy but arduous tasks was taking up way too much time. This is where the chapter on keyboard shortcuts really shone. I could recite the PC shortcuts in my sleep, and the tables in this chapter listed those shortcuts and their Mac counterparts. With the new shortcuts in my arsenal, I got my work done more efficiently.
And when the work day was over, this guide helped me to learn how to manage all of my music and photos. It even suggested some apps that I could use to boost my productivity. This book made for a truly smooth transition in what could have been a real mess of a situation.

This book was worth the purchase. heck for 10 bucks, it guided me through the land of mac world!!! I will never go back to windows!!

|Very very very basic,
I have been a PC user since Windows 3.11 but had often thought about trying out a Mac. I finally did and was struggling a little with it die to long ingrained ways of thinking how to do things. I thought that this book would be of good use to me in switching from a PC mindset to a Mac mindset. I was very disappointed to find that this book was so basic that I read through it in a matter of hours and didn’t pick up anything of any real use that I hadn’t figured out in just a couple of hours of mucking about. The book did not help me at all and I still don’t feel that I “get” how to use a Mac any more than I did before. If you are an experienced PC user this book is not for you, it perhaps could be for a beginner PC user trying to use a Mac as well.
