I have had this for about two weeks, and it works perfectly with my Latitude D830, and adds about an hour (give or take) of battery life – which is about right given that it is only 48-WHr. I un-installed the Dell battery manager to avoid annoying pop-ups, but the Vista manager works very well and charges/discharges smartly (i.e., it discharges this battery first, then the main battery). ALWAYS DEEP CYCLE YOUR BATTERY FOR THE FIRST WEEK OR TWO (let it drain almost completely, then recharge fully). I have experienced no issues with random shut-downs, overheating, or other problems.
People always say to be careful because these are knock-offs made in China, but listen folks: Dell’s own batteries are made in Korea (doesn’t say which one), assembled in China (it says so right on the battery), cost 3 times more, and really only last about a year before they start to show their age too (read the reviews for their D820 battery replacement on the Dell website). True, you will have better luck with warranty services from Dell, but when you can buy 3 of these and still break even, I think it’s a pretty clear choice.

|Good life for such a low cost battery,
Bought for my aging, but great dell d620. This battery adds about an hour or so, which is great and makes my life as a contractor great. I rarely use my DVD, and have a USB portable ROM for when I do, (the internal writer/reader vibrates like crazy, so I stopped using it because it was so loud). Time will tell about it’s overall life, but so far I like it.

Recieved the caddy and installed a known good hard drive. It did not work. Hope anyone else has better luck. Took the HD out and put in a HD docking station and it worked fine when plugged into the usb port. Bad caddy.
