Acer Aspire 5755G-6841 is a Great Budget Gaming Laptop,
 Â
My old laptop was starting to show its age, and wanting a relatively cheap laptop I can use for gaming, I decided to buy this Acer Aspire. For the price of the laptop, I am very happy with its performance, both for normal everyday use and gaming. The NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M graphics card is what attracted me to this computer. Games such as Starcraft II, Skyrim, and Mass Effect run smoothly even at max settings. It does a great job with video processing too. I’ve had no problems with graphics switching. Startup times are short. Once I upgraded the ram from the stock 4GB to 8GB, it really runs like a champ. Windows 7 64-bit takes full advantage of the 8GB of ram, which it did not on my previous computer, and maxes the Windows Experience Index for RAM at 7.9. Around 3-4 hours battery life for non-gaming standard use with max performance settings (full screen brightness, wireless, full processor speed, etc.) light and sturdy body, and included software such as Adobe Photoshop 9 (not 10, but hey it’s included) and Dolby Digital Sound Equalizer make this a fantastic laptop for what you pay.
I only have a couple real problems with this laptop. The glare of the screen can get annoying if light is placed behind you, and the resolution of the screen is not as I had hoped. The graphics still look good but not great in gaming, and the limited resolution makes the Windows desktop a little bigger than I prefer (resolution of 1366 x 768). I would have definitely given the computer 5 stars if the screen was able to take full advantage of the GT 540M graphics card and the processing video power it is able to handle. There is some bloatware pre-installed but I ended up uninstalling only a few programs.
Also, if you leave the laptop plugged in at night when fully charged, the battery LED indicator can light up a pitch black room which may be annoying if in a bedroom. This can simply be avoided by covering it with black electrical tape or simply unplugging it. Simply a nit-picking con that threw me off the first night I had it.
Overall, the Acer Aspire 5755G-6841 is a fantastic computer with an awesome processor and graphics card and a slightly above average screen. Definitely would recommend, especially for the price it is being sold at, both for gaming and normal use.
